BIM – ECA’s Bill Wright speaks on new Government mandate

From the beginning of April this year, the government has mandated the use of BIM Level 2 in all centrally procured contracts. Quoted by Construction Manager Magazine, Bill Wright suggests that the industry could divide into two camps:

“That’s when the real crunch will come, because that will actually force smaller contractors to actually do it, because they’re shut out otherwise and a lot of people could see their work’s dying out if they’re not adopting BIM. That’s where our small members are rather worried, and we’re trying to encourage them to get to some [level], even if they have to go to an agency or consultant to get help.”
